An Irish dance spectacular in London — absolutely!

A Fairytale for Christmas stepped into London’s Dominion Theatre for one magical night, just ahead of the festive rush. The show is now touring across the UK until 22 December, spreading Christmas cheer wherever it goes. It’s definitely a must-visit if you’re into Christmas songs and just want to have a good time with your family.

The production mixes well-known Christmas songs with Irish dance and classic Celtic hits, creating a fun and lively atmosphere from start to finish. Three different casts are touring at the same time, filling November and December with as much festive spirit as possible. It’s the perfect night out if you want to dive straight into the Christmas mood, with plenty of singing, dancing, and great music.

You can expect favourites like I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day and O Holy Night, along with Irish classics from The Irish Rover to Dirty Old Town. It’s a warm, joyful celebration that brings Christmas and Irish culture together in a lovely way.

It was definitely a lovely night that put me straight into the Christmas spirit, but the show wasn’t totally what I expected. Since I’d seen Riverdance last year in Dublin, I thought this performance would be more focused on dancing — which it wasn’t really. They did dance, and the Irish dance sections were incredible, but for me the focus leaned more toward the singing. It just didn’t fully connect for me in the way I’d hoped. I also didn’t know all the songs, so I’m sure it would have been even more fun if I had known more of them!

My highlights during the show were: Molly Farmer, one of the singers, who absolutely blew me away with her voice — especially with Underneath the Tree by Kelly Clarkson. The same goes for Oliver Cave, who also played guitar. They made it look so easy while singing some very technically difficult songs! Overall, it was a lovely night. You could really see the connection between the cast members, and another highlight for me was the singing combined with the dancers. When they were all on stage together, it was a party!
