For a very long time, this musical was high on my must-see list. When I went to New York last year, my excitement to see this show really started to grow. So, during my last solo trip to London, I decided to go for it and managed to get rush tickets. I had absolutely no idea what to expect — I only knew a small part of one song, and that was it.
The show follows the tangled relationships between Daisy Buchanan (FRANCES MAYLI McCANN) and her husband Tom Buchanan (JON ROBYNS), alongside characters like Jay Gatsby (JAMIE MUSCATO), Nick Carraway (CORBIN BLEU), Jordan Baker (AMBER DAVIES), George Wilson (JOEL MONTAGUE), and Myrtle Wilson (RACHEL TUCKER). A very strong, incredible cast. And let me tell you — the twist at the end? I did not see that coming. I’m still in shock.
My seat was in the first row of the upper circle. Not my first choice, but hey, it was a rush ticket, so I definitely couldn’t complain for that price. And honestly? The view was amazing — the only downside was the tight legroom.
Amber Davies as Jordan was incredible. I’m a huge fan of her podcast "Call to stage", so seeing her live felt like a real bucket list moment. The way she performed "New Money" is something I still replay in my head. It’s such a catchy, swingy number — trust me, once you hear it, you can’t stop listening to it. Just like with the song "Roaring On" and all the other songs are total bangers.
This Tony Award-winning musical is now playing in London at the London Coliseum until 07 September 2025 more info via https://londongatsby.com/
